St Michael's Men’s Fellowship
In 2019 some of the men in the congregation at St Michaels Church met at The White Hart, in Moneyrow Green for a meal together to get to know each other. That evening we had about 16 people present. The Maidenhead Advertiser heard about our proposal to meet once a month and the local reporter placed an item in the paper about our new venture. I later had a call from a young lady asking me if her father, who does not attend our Church and who lives in Dorney, could join us. I was delighted to take her call and so pleased when her father, joined us and he has been a regular with us ever since.
A few other men who do not attend our Church have also joined us. After meeting for about 6 months Covid 19 raised its head, and put a stop to our fun.
When restrictions eased in 2021 we decided to gather in a smaller group of 6-8 . We now meet every two weeks at lunctimes in one of our local pubs and spend a pleasant 3-4 hours over lunch putting the world to rights.
The group is growing and we invite any guy who wishes to join us. No restrictions as to who can join us, faith or age. Most of us are retired and getting to know each other has been wonderful, sharing life stories that could fill a book. The only cost is chipping in for your meal and drinks on the day.
New friendships have been created, which helps us all as we get older and keeps our minds working and not feeling lonely. The group drives itself and is always evolving.
If you are interested in joining us, a warm welcome is assured. Please call me on 07881 671929 and I can fill you in on anything that you need to know. You could also send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
